DAY 1: MARRAKECH – TIZI N’TICHKA PASS – TELOUET – AIT BENHADDOU KASBAH – OUARZAZATE
Today, we pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech and drive you to Telouet through the high Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’tichka Pass (2260 m in altitude), where you’ll view the Kasbah of Pasha Glaoui and have lunch. We will go to Ait Ben Haddou in the afternoon along the Ounila valley with its Berber villages. You are going to see Ait Benhaddou Kasbah before we move on to Ouarzazate. Dinner and sleeping at the Ouarzazate hotel.
DAY 2: OUARZAZATE – SKOURA – KELAA M’GOUNA – VALLEY OF ROSES – DADES GORGES – BOUMALNE – TINEGHIR – TODRA GORGES.
After this morning’s breakfast at the hotel, we will drive for Skoura, where we will see the stunning Kasbah of Amredil, which is located along the “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs.”. Later, the route passes through the Valley of Roses before crossing an off-road area where a cave-dwelling nomad family may be encountered. You go to the Dades Gorges to view the geological formations.
Following that, travel to Boulmane du Dades and stop for lunch. We carry on to Tineghir and then Todra Gorges in the afternoon to take in the breathtaking canyon landscapes. Dinner and a night’s stay at the Kasbah hotel.
DAY 3: TODRA – TINJDAD – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA
You will trek through the palm plantations this morning while taking in the expansive vistas of the Todra River. Later, we travel to Tinjedad to have lunch at a nearby restaurant. Before arriving in Erfoud, you will later pass through a variety of villages, including Touroug (a Berber settlement) and El-Jarf.
You’ll stop by a nearby fossil-themed craft shop. The fascinating Erg Chebbi dunes, also known as the Merzouga Dunes, are the next stop on your journey. Once at the hotel, be ready for an hour-and-a-half-long camel trek to take in the sunset. You will ride to the camp or spend the night in a typical nomad tent while riding the dromedary. Dinner and a night spent in the middle of the dunes in a bivouac.
DAY 4: MERZOUGA – KHAMLIA – NOMAD FAMILY – MERZOUGA 4×4 DESERT TOUR
Get up early to watch the Sahara Desert dawn from the top of a dune. Then, have breakfast. You will return to the hotel to take a shower after these lovely moments. A 4×4 tour of the dunes will be provided for you, allowing you to see the black volcanic rocks of fossils, a nomad family living in a tent, the khamlia village and enjoy their spiritual Gnawa music, as well as the lake Dayte Sarji, which forms in the spring and attracts pink flamingos and other wildlife. After that, you’ll stop for lunch at Merzouga or Hassi Labied.
Following lunch, you’ll see the canal irrigation system and take a stroll through the oasis at the base of the sand dunes. Proceed to your hotel to take a shower and unwind. Dinner and a night’s stay in an inn.
DAY 5: MERZOUGA – ERFOUD – MIDELT – AZROU – IFRANE – FES
You will visit Rissani today to explore the local market (Souks). You’ll later go to Errachidia via Erfoud, Aoufous, and the valley of Ziz before stopping for a panoramic view of the Aoufous oasis in the Tafilalte region. Cross the Tizi N’talghamt pass to proceed to Midelt and stop for lunch. Following lunch, you will be driven to Fes (the medieval city), passing through the Cedar Forest between Azrou and the Middle Atlas Mountain, where you may have the opportunity to encounter Barbary apes (monkies). Before reaching Fes, you might make a detour to Ifrane (also known as the Switzerland of Morocco). Departure in Fes.
